Advertising Information

OVERVIEW

Colorado 365 covers festivals, events and travel for Denver Metro and the greater Colorado
area. We also cover entertainment and dining; we're all about how to have fun in Colorado!

Colorado 365 is printed every other month and distributed free of charge at over 125 locations across Denver, with a concentration in the South Metro area. Unlike publications that are mass-mailed, you can be sure you're reaching a receptive audience. Our demographic encompasses active adults and families who enjoy outdoor recreation, festivals, and other leisure activities. We have strong coverage in Douglas County, which is one of the wealthiest counties in America.

Along with the print publication, we also maintain this web site. All of our content is original and Colorado-focused. We are locally owned and independent, so your advertising dollars stay in the community. Between the print publication and the web site, your business has the opportunity to make approximately 19,000 impressions. The best part? Our rates are affordable, so that you can maintain a presence and build your brand without breaking the bank. For less than the cost of mailing 500 postcards, you could be reaching thousands of people with your message.

All print ads are reproduced on the web as well, for no additional charge. We recently began offering web-only ads, starting at just $25. We also offer special pricing for Chamber of Commerce members. (Note: You may only use one promotional offer or discount; offers may not be combined.) Truly, we have something for every budget.

This summer, readers and web visitors have looked to us for information on the best 4th of July celebrations, music festivals, and more. There's still time to participate in our themed fall issues. The September/October issue focuses on fall colors and Oktoberfest celebrations, and the November/December issue will cover ski resorts and holiday events.

SPECIFICATIONS

We offer a free design service. If you prefer to design your own ad, here are the specifications.

Photographs

Do not use photographs downloaded from the Internet, such as a picture from web page. These are not high-resolution images (usually about 72 ppi) and will definitely pixilate on your final product. Recommended resolution for all images & graphics is 300 DPI.

Make sure all color photographs are CMYK, not RGB. Black and white images should be greyscale.

Resolution

All images and graphics at 300 DPI.

Color Space: All color images need to be in CMYK; all black & white images need to be in grayscale.

Spot colors are not available at this time.

Rich Black: We do not accept files with rich black type. This includes raster and vector data.

Line Screen

The line screen we use is 120.

Design Tips

Keep your design simple. Newsweb presses do not hold registration or ink density with as much precision as sheetfed presses. Avoid fine lines, fine reverses, large solids, graduated screen tints, and tight trapping and registration whenever possible.

Avoid PMS builds on type smaller than 24 pt.

Dot gain on a newsweb press is more dramatic than on a sheetfed press. To avoid your halftones and color separations from reproducing too dark, use a highlight dot of about 3% and a shadow dot of about 87%. Mid tones should be set at approximately 38%.

Do not knock black type or graphics out of a light-colored background. You will get better results if the black overprints the color.

Save time and money by proofreading and making all changes at the electronic level. Double check laser proofs for errors before submitting your files.

Bleeds

Bleeds are not offered. Each printed page has a margin of at least 3/8” all around.

Printer

The printer we use is Signature Offset. Additional information is available on their site under Support at www.signatureoffset.com.

Deadlines

Reserve ad space: Ads may be reserved up to the 15th of the month preceding publication or until the issue is fully booked. If space is still available, ads may be reserved after the 15th on a case-by-case basis.

Camera-ready Ads: Completed ads are due by the 19th.
(Note: if you’d like design assistance, please allow at least 5 days prior to the deadline.)

Payment: Payments are due by the 20th of the month preceding publication. Checks are payable to Colorado 365; we do not accept debit or credit cards at this time.

File Types

Preferred file types are jpeg, tiff, or PDF. Note: If using Adobe Acrobat Pro, we use the PDFX-1A setting. Recommended software products are Quark or InDesign. Ads created using Word or MS Publisher will likely not meet standards and may be rejected. We reserve the right to reject ads that do not meet editorial or graphic standards.
